One sweet thing: Doris Day’s legacy of animal welfare

As you may have read, Hollywood icon Doris Day passed away last week at the age of 97. But did you know that Day was a fierce animal rights activist? In addition to founding the Doris Day Animal League, she advocated for countless animal welfare bills like the 1990 ban on the trophy hunting of mountain lions in California, urged an end to cosmetic testing on animals, helped with a 2010 ballot measure in Missouri to crack down on puppy mills, and made calls and sent letters on a wide range of topics to help all animals. She will be missed!
