Senator Warren Details Her Climate Security Plan

Senator Elizabeth Warren yesterday released a detailed plan on how the military can lead the nation in meeting the challenge of climate change and intends to introduce implementing legislation later this week.  Warren explained in a blog on Medium, that the plan is ambitious but will not impede readiness, saying “[w]e don’t have to choose between a green military and an effective one.”

18 million trees died in California raising concern for upcoming fire season

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service released data this week from its latest federal tree mortality count which found that an estimated 18 million trees have died in California wildlands and private property in the past year, many of them victims of recent droughts and bark beetle infestations.
