Carbon Capture Tax Credit a Bust — So Far

Congress in 2018 gave a lucrative tax credit to the nascent and controversial carbon capture industry, but so far, according to The New York Times, the Internal Revenue Service has yet to promulgate the regulations that would allow businesses that qualify to get the tax benefit. 

Why This Matters:  The Republicans’ big plans on carbon capture and sequestration won’t mean bupkis if the Trump Administration won’t implement them.

Last week, both Ford and General Motors (GM), the largest American car manufacturers, announced plans to add jobs in Michigan to build electric vehicles, as both companies plan to substantially expand their lineup of electric vehicles to meet expected growing demand in the U.S. and in an effort to chip away at Tesla’s market share of EVs.
