US Companies Must Also Walk the Walk on Climate


As Blomberg reported this week,

While more than 80% of the largest U.S. companies have set emissions reduction goals, less than half engaged with lawmakers to advocate for science-based climate policies — and more than 20% have lobbied against them, according to report released Tuesday by sustainability nonprofit Ceres.

This comes at the same time that scientists are increasingly concerned that we’re about to reach climate tipping points from which there’s no going back. This is a red alert situation, if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem–which goes for businesses as well as lawmakers.

Luckily, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is running full steam ahead with passing major climate spending as well as an infrastructure bill with key climate provisions. If you’ve been reading the stories in ODP this week, it’s abundantly clear that the climate crisis is putting millions of people at risk and already claiming lives.
