Our national memorial parks rely on volunteers to help keep them clean and preserved for future generations. Pictured here are the volunteers who clean the Vietnam War Memorial to ensure the hallowed space stays pristine to honor the legacies of the fallen soldiers etched within it. In years past funding has been insufficient to keep the memorial clean and vets had to take it upon themselves to maintain the memorial. As civilians, we can dedicate our time to ensure that veterans aren’t having to service their own memorials. If you’re interested in being a volunteer for national memorial parks, click here to register with the National Park Service. If you don’t live in the DC area there’s likely a memorial park in your own community, contact your city or local veterans organization to find out how you can volunteer to honor the fallen where you live.
