Extinction Rebellion Stages New Round of Protests Across the U.K.

The U.K. Parliament returned to work this week after their summer recess, and the leaders were met with thousands of Extinction Rebellion (XR) protesters who are leading acts of civil disobedience throughout London, which they plan to continue for another 10-14 days.

Why This Matters:  The COVID pandemic is much more under control in the United Kingdom than it is here, but government officials are not taking any chances — they have strict orders about social distancing and limiting the protests to off-road areas near Parliament Square

London marathon demonstrates positive impact of taking cars off the road

We recently wrote about the London Marathon’s commitment to sustainability by issuing runners electrolyte water contained in edible seaweed pouches. But avoiding plastic pollution wasn’t the only environmental achievement from the marathon’s organizers, it turns out air pollution along the marathon route dropped significantly and almost instantly during the event after vehicles were temporarily taken off the roads.
